Mount Ellinor

Mason County, Washington

Olympic National Forest

Fees: NW Forest Pass (upper trailhead only)

Activity: hiking

Elevation: 3525'-5952'

Current status (as of 1/22/25): not blooming

Notes: Consider making a loop by hiking uphill on the rougher "winter route," which goes up an avalanche gully just to the east of the main trail. The winter route has slightly different wildflowers, and you might have it all to yourself.

If you don't mind a little alpine scrambling, you can also check out Mt. Washington, just north of Ellinor.

Peak wildflower bloom at Mt. Ellinor is typically from early June through July into mid-August, but there may be some flowers blooming from late May until late August.*

Typical year:

Featured plants: Castilleja parviflora var. olympica, Erigeron flettii, Eucephalus paucicapitatus, Petrophytum hendersonii, Viola flettii
